James B. Gillespie, III is a corporate and finance attorney with more than two decades of experience advising clients on cross-border transactions, business negotiations, and regulatory compliance. Licensed in both New York and Paris, he has built his career at the intersection of U.S. and European legal systems, representing companies, investors, and financial institutions through complex corporate matters.
James began his career in Paris with the M&A teams at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson and White & Case, where he handled transactions and joint ventures valued in the hundreds of millions. In 2013, he co-founded Piton-Gillespie, a boutique multinational firm where he served as managing partner of the Paris office for seven years. In that role, he acted as external general counsel to startups, growth-stage ventures, and mid-market companies, guiding them through financings, acquisitions, restructurings, and strategic partnerships across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the United States.
