About

Stephen Holmes is an attorney at Omnus Law, ย where he focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation and commercial litigation, with a particular emphasis on technology-driven disputes. With more than two decades of experience litigating complex matters in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe, Stephen brings a global perspective and deep technical insight to high-stakes disputes involving innovative technologies and evolving legal frameworks.

Stephen advises clients across the full spectrum of intellectual property rights, including patents, trade secrets, trademarks, copyright, and design rights, as well as related contractual, antitrust, employment, and unfair competition matters. His litigation experience includes examining and cross-examining witnesses at trial, arguing dispositive motions, managing complex discovery, and presenting sophisticated technologies in Markman hearings and technology tutorials. He has also argued appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

In addition to courtroom litigation, Stephen has extensive experience guiding clients through pre-litigation investigations, temporary restraining orders and preliminary injunction proceedings, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution, and proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the International Trade Commission. His ability to translate technical concepts into persuasive legal strategy makes him a trusted advocate in matters where science, engineering, and law intersect.

Prior to joining Hansen Law Firm, P.C., Stephen was a partner in an international intellectual property litigation practice and spent many years practicing in Silicon Valley. He also served as Assistant General Counsel, Litigation, for a Bay Area biotechnology company, where he gained first-hand experience managing litigation strategy from an in-house perspective. This background enables him to approach disputes with a practical understanding of business risk, cost management, and long-term strategic objectives.

Stephen has represented clients across a wide range of industries and technologies, including internet advertising, computer software and hardware, electronics, semiconductor equipment, biotechnology and DNA analysis technologies, tele-health systems, vehicle technology, stock trading platforms, consumer products advertising, wine and spirits brand protection, and sports equipment, among others.

In addition to his legal practice, Stephen has provided pro bono representation to nonprofit organizations and individuals in both California and the United Kingdom. He is also a Chartered Professional Engineer in the United Kingdom, a distinction that underscores his technical depth and analytical approach to complex disputes.

At Omnus Law, Stephen supports clients facing sophisticated commercial and intellectual property challenges by delivering litigation strategies grounded in technical fluency, procedural rigor, and international experience.
