Issue Spotting Topics

Are Your AI Systems Being Poisoned?

Artificial intelligence (AI) systems that you rely on can hallucinate, and they also can be attacked and poisoned, making them malfunction sometimes in very subtle and deceptive ways. Not only AI developers but also businesses using these technologies must be on constant guard for attacks, and it is highly recommended that they employ effective mitigation methods.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) finalized guidelines Adversarial Machine Learning: A Taxonomy and Terminology of Attacks and Mitigations (NIST AI.100-2e2025) to help assist AI developers, businesses and users.

AI does not replace people but can assist and supplement their efforts. Ultimately, people remain the weakest link in any system. Constant vigilance and ongoing training are crucial to mitigating these risks.

Licensing Your Trademarks? Here’s How to Keep Control and Avoid Pitfalls

Licensing your trademarks can open exciting doors, but without the right safeguards, it can also lead to loss of control, misuse, or dilution of your brand. Strong quality control ensures licensees uphold your branding and product standards, preserving the validity and value of your trademarks.

Defining clear scope, termination rights, and payment structures helps you retain exclusivity, set financial expectations, and revoke licenses when necessary. Additionally, securing ownership and legal compliance in your license terms keeps your trademarks firmly under your control while requiring licensees to indemnify against liabilities.

By implementing these best practices, you can maintain your trademarks’ validity and set your licensing program up for long-term success.
